Nintendo Wii With Wii Music (Free with Selected Mobile Phone Contracts)

When you look at the variety of different game types on the Wii it is amazing how far consoles have come in just a few short years. The main change that has allowed this revolution in gaming to take place has been the new controller types from Nintendo such as the Wii Remote and Balance Board. One of the games that takes full advantage of this is Wii Music.

A Nintendo Wii with Wii Music is a good choice if you want to get into gaming but aren’t sure where to begin. The Wii is much more geared towards casual gaming than the other consoles and Wii Music is an example of a causal game that will appeal a wide audience.

However to really get the most out of the Wii Music game you will need to have both the console with regular controller as well as a Balance Board and Nunchuck (the extension to the Wii Remote). You can play the game without a balance board but you will be missing out on playing the drums. To buy the game, console and extra controller types you will have to spend above $300 in most cases so it is no small investment.

What Is Wii Music?

As the name suggests Wii Music is a game based around playing instruments on the screen by using a combination of motions from the Wii Remote, balance board and nunchuck. There have been lots of games in the past that have allowed you to control a band or orchestra using buttons but Wii Music provides a more authentic experience by including the motion support.

There are plenty of different instruments available in the game for you to play and they include a piano, guitar and harp. The Wii Balance Board is only used in the game to play the drums s-o it might not be worth buying a board just for this game, but if you already have a board or think that you will use it for other games then it can add a different dimension to the game.

The most important part of the game is called Jam mode which allows people to play their instruments either without any backing music or with a song to =play along to. Up to four people can play at once with different instruments and this can be a lot of fun as a multiplayer game.

Apart from the different kinds of Jam mode there are also mini games such as Pitch perfect which asks the players to identify different sounds and Mii Maestro which allows you to conduct an orchestra using the Wii remote.

What Is The Balance Board?

Before buying the balance board it is important to know what it is. The balance board can sense how you are leaning and where you are balancing on the board and will control your character on screen accordingly. This means it opens up a wide range of different possibilities to certain types of games but is quite limited in others. The good news is that you can play it with lots of other games on the Wii – Wii Fit being the main one. However as it is used very rarely in Wii music you shouldn’t buy it just for this game.
